Para Legal Volunteers training programme for Staudents of ALA

Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLSA) had organised a one day Para Legal Volunteers Training for students of Arunachal Law Academy, Lekhi which was attended by nearly 120 (One hundred twenty) participants on 11th May, 2019 at Tadar Taniang hall, Vivek Vihar, Itanagar. The resource persons for the programme included shri Budi Habung, Member Secretary, APSLSA, Smti Jaweplu Chai, District & Sessions Judge, Yupia, Shri Sunil Mow, Advocate, Gauhati High Court, Itanagar Permanent Bench, shri Jumgam Jini, Legal Aid Counsel, APSLSA and Miss Raknu Konya, Legal Aid Counsel, APSLSA.

During the training programme, Shri Budi Habung, Member Secretary, APSLSA while welcoming the participants to the programme gave brief introduction on functioning of Legal Services Authority in Arunachal Pradesh.  Shri Sunil Mow presented an overview on Child Rights by highlighting on Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act, 2000 & Amendment Act, 2015 and Sexual Abuse, Law relating to Sexual Abuse especially on Protection of Children from Sexual Offence (POCSO) Act, 2012. While, Shri Budi Habung spoke on Principle of Criminal Law: FIR, Arrest, Remand, Bail, Trial, Evidence and Judgement. Ms. Jaweplu Chai made a presentation on the Principle of Civil Law and Proceedings: Trial, Evidence, Judgement and Temporary & Permanent injunction.

In afternoon session, Miss Raknu Konya spoke on the Marriage Registration under Special Marriage Act, 1954 and the importance & procedure of the Arunachal Pradesh Recording of Marriage Act, 2008. Later, shri Budi Habung spoke on the schemes, role and responsibilities of Para Legal Volunteers and also talked about Legal Aid Clinics. Shri Jumgam Jini presented an overview on the NDPS Act and problem of Drug menace in Arunachal Pradesh and remedy.

During the programme, there was interactive session with the resource persons wherein the doubt and queries as raised by the participant were addressed thereto. The training programme came to an end with distribution of certificate of participants.
